How to Get to Rasdhoo Island – Your Guide to Reaching Paradise

You've reserved your dream vacation at The Palm Ray, our charming boutique hotel situated in the heart of the Maldives, and you're asking yourself: How do I reach Rasdhoo Island?

Don't worry — we have all the travel options for you, ranging from budget-friendly to stunningly scenic.

Arrive in Malé – Velana International Airport (MLE/VRMM)

Your journey to paradise begins when you land at Velana International Airport (MLE), the main international airport in the Maldives. From here, Rasdhoo is just a short (and stunning!) journey away by speedboat, seaplane, or ferry.

Let us know your flight arrival time in advance, and our team at The Palm Ray will help arrange the best transfer option for you.

Option 1: Speedboat Transfer – Fast & Comfortable

  • Duration: Approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

  • Schedule: Usually twice daily (subject to change, based on arrival times)

  • Cost: Around $35–$50 per person (one way)

This is the most common way to reach Rasdhoo — quick, reliable, and with a splash of adventure. You’ll ride across the crystal-clear waters directly to the Rasdhoo jetty, just steps away from The Palm Ray.

Pro tip: Book your speedboat through us to secure your seat and avoid waiting at the airport.

Option 2: Public Ferry – Affordable & Authentic

  • Duration: Around 3–4 hours

  • Schedule: Typically 3 times a week (e.g., Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday – schedules may vary)

  • Cost: Around $5–$10

If you’re traveling on a budget and have time to spare, the public ferry is a peaceful way to experience local travel. It’s slower, but it gives you a feel of everyday island life.

Note: Ferry schedules are weather-dependent and may change without notice — let us help confirm your timing before you travel.

Option 3: Seaplane Transfer – Scenic & Luxurious

  • Duration: Approx. 15–20 minutes

  • Cost: Around $250–$350 per person (one way)

  • Views: Absolutely unforgettable – turquoise lagoons, coral atolls, and postcard-perfect islands from above

For those looking to start their Maldives journey in style, this is it. The seaplane takes off from the seaplane terminal near Malé airport and lands near Rasdhoo or on a nearby floating platform. From there, you’ll take a short speedboat ride to the island.

 Good to know:

  • Seaplanes operate only during daylight hours (6:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

  • Luggage limits apply (typically 20 kg checked + 5 kg hand luggage)

  • Advance booking is essential – we’ll handle it for you!
